Colourpop ultra matte lip in bumble review

Probably I am the last person among the Coloupop fans to post about the infamous shade bumble from their ultra matte range. But Lord knows that I have tried and tested in every possible way before I jotted down my thoughts. Because I have a love hate relationship with this, actually with the ultra matte formula. The love part being this unique shade which I just cannot get enough of. And the hate part ? More on that on the post below.

Everyone will bee buzzing when you wear this dusty warm terracotta

Application tips
Make sure your lips are bare, dry, and exfoliated for the smoothest finish. Apply a matching lip pencil for a precise and perfected application. Next, apply Ultra Matte Lip with the applicator or your favorite lip brush. We suggest storing these babies upright and shaking before application!

This thin and lightweight formula glides onto the lips leaving SUPER intense colour with a bold, ultra matte finish. It's very long wearing and completely kiss proof!

The Ultra Matte Lips comes in a hard plastic tube with a silver cap doe foot applicator. The brand name is pasted on the body in holographic sticker. The tube is housed in a card board package. They are all made in USA. All the Colourpop liquid lipsticks are packaged the same way.

Texture and Fragrance

The texture feels same like the ultra satin ones, like an diluted acrylic paint. The formula glides on smoothly without any pull or tug and dries super fast. It adheres to the lips like glue and you really have to make sure you apply properly or else it will end up looking patchy. This smells very chemically which is a bit put off for me, its the same issue with all their lipsticks.

Colour and Pigmentation

Just as the brand explained it is a true dusty warm teracotta colour. It's the most beautiful teracotta with a pinkish hue ever. I am yet to come across a dupe for this in regular matte lipstick formula. The pigmentation is amazing, it covers all the dark patches and pigmentation on my lips in just single coat.

It stays on for like forever. Survives any kind of meals, nonstop talking, drinking etc etc. It would not survive very oily food though. It starts to fade off from the center of the lips and you can reapply it without any issue.

How to apply

The brand has suggested a method of application and you should follow that. But if you have lips with lot of lines like me then you need to have the biggest smile as possible on your face so that all your lip lines are smooth and then you apply it. If you do not apply this way, then all nooks and crannies of your lips would not be covered. And then when you smile, the lipstick will crack. And it will crack hideously. It will crack any ways, but in this way it would be a little less. The best way to apply this lipstick would be to apply it as a stain, just dot on the lips and then press both of your lips to spread the colour all over.

6USD in US (Rs 400 approx) for 3.2gms. Varies from Rs 750 to Rs 800 or may be more in India through social media sellers. Recently I saw some social media seller selling for Rs 680.

When the lipstick is applied as a stain, there are less cracks and the colour looks pretty.

2 coats of lipstick with out any lip liner underneath. Look how it makes my lips looks super dry and adheres like a glue. By the way my lips were exfoliated and hydrated just before the application.

And when I smile, there you have it all the cracks, hideous and ugly.

The only thing I like about this is the shade and the pigmentation. If I run out of this tube would I repurchase ? Absolutely No. Here's why.

Firstly, because of this excessive drying nature. It just sucks the life out of my lips and makes it extremely dry like lips flaking off dry. It exaggerates lip lines way too much, and for girls who has lot of lip lines like me, its not a pretty sight. The ultra satins are much better in this department.

Secondly, it cracks and crumbles, No matter how much I have perfected the application, it still cracks and crumbles from the inner center of the lips, which again looks hideous. Even when I apply this like a stain, then too this cracks on my lips.

Thirdly, the removal of it. You need a good makeup remover to remove this. Only oil and vaseline do not remove it completely. Face wash and water would not be sufficient either. Once I had wore this to office and after lunch I noticed it faded from the center and that day I was not carrying the lipstick. I thought to remove it all together and apply a different lipstick which was in my makeup pouch. Gosh, I had such a hard time removing it, my lips started to hurt !

All of these problems occur when I wear it like how you are supposed to wear liquid lipstick, applying good coats. When I started wearing this as a stain, I noticed these problems were far less and manageable. So now this has become my favorite lip stain and I end up wearing this quite frequently. You can sport the Colorpop ultra matte flawlessly only if your lips has no lines or you have lip fillers injected to plump and smooth all the lip lines.

I hope this review was helpful to you. Did you use Colourpop ultra matte liquid lipstick ? Did you face this similar issues.

The colour is so pretty, and it brightens up face even with no other makeup on.
