About the Ingredients

Olive Oil (Olea Europaea), Soya Oil (Glycine Soja), Walnut Oil (Juglans Regia), Sesame Oil (Sesamum Indicum), Coconut Oil (Cocos Nucifera), Bhringraj Ext. (Eclipta Alba), Bhrami Ext. (Bacopa Monnieri), Almond Oil (Prunus Amygdalus), Apricot Kernel Oil (Prunus Armeniaca), Olivem 300®, IPM, Amla / Indian Goose Berry Ext. (Emblica Officinalis), Jatamansi Ext. (Nardostachys Jatamansi), Methi / Fenugreek Seed Ext. (Trigonella Foenum Graecum), Aloe Vera Ext. (Aloe Barbadensis), Neem Ext. (Azadirachta Indica), Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis), Saw Palmeto Ext. (Serenoa Serrulata).

I am really impressed with the ingredients list, it has a mix of some great oils and herbs extremely beneficial for hair. I was a little curious about Olivem 300, and a little research tells me that it is a water soluble functional lipid and helps protect skin from irritation and acts as emollient. The formulation could have been done without this don't you think ? But most importantly there is no mineral oil.

My experience

I have been using this for quite some time now since the day it landed on my doorstep. My initial thoughts were, I can bear with the strong herbal scent provided it did some good to my hair and scalp. Felt a bit heavy when compared to the Just Herbs Bhringaraj hair oil, but that is manageable if you warm up the oil a bit pre-application. Once I started applying the oil, I have noticed if I applied on hair wet with sweat or already dirty, hair fall during oil application was a lot. But when I applied on dry and clean hair, it was much much less. The brand do ask you to apply on clean dry hair, so make sure you follow that. I am a girl who applies oil the night before the shampoo day. Many theories suggests it is the wrong thing to do, but some brands claim such as this one, it is the right thing to do. But due to lack of time on my mornings, I am the overnight oil girl. One thing I can blindly agree to the claim, that I do sleep like a baby with the oil on. I suffer from insomnia ( all thanks to binge watching on TV series ) and my head just does not seem to calm down, it keeps playing what Fitz is hiding from Olivia ( I have started binge watching Scandal and I am addicted ). This oil does calms my brain and helps me fall asleep faster. And I love the cool feeling that my heated scalp gets from it. This is something that I look the most in a hair oil.

Coming to the claim of hair fall, I did notice that my hair fall due to itchy scalp during oiling was less as this did calm by scalp. Since I use sulfate free shampoo, hair fall during hair wash was same as before, I did not notice zero hair fall with this. And I do not wish to go back and use SLS/SLeS containing shampoos to test the hair fall claim. If you are some whose hair care regimen consists of good old regular coconut oil and off the counter SLS/SLES containing shampoos and facing a lot of hair fall due to that, then you would notice a major difference in your hair fall with this hair oil. And if you are someone who has all natural skin friendly products along with gentle and mild sulfate free cleansers, you would not notice much of a difference with this. For the later section of people, you can try this out if you want to add something new in your natural hair care regimen.

On my next post, it is going to be all about the shampoo from this range. So do check back in.
