Plum Goodness Green Tea Alcohol Free Toner Review
Today I am going to share with you today my experience with the green tea toner from Plum. Now this toner is a much raved one in blogger community. People who have been sent PR samples, they all have given positive reviews. And many other bloggers have also given good feedback. I am going to share my review on perspective of sensitive skinned women. I have already reviewed the face wash from the same range which I am not very fond of. Read it HERE. Now it's time for the toner to face my honest truth.

Plum Goodness Green Tea Alcohol Free Toner Review

According to Plum (section taken from Plum website ~

Goodness: figuring out an alcohol-free alternative - with added green tea extracts. Let’s put alcohol to better use

Best-selling alcohol-free toner from Plum. Make this an essential part of your skin care regimen for clear, smooth, well-toned skin. Astringency (tightness) on your skin that you can feel - great for enlarged pores. Antioxidant organic green tea extracts that help control blemishes and acne (pimples). Packaging ~

The toner comes in a white plastic opaque bottle with flip cap. Its looks elegant and is convenient too. But it is a bulky bottle so you cannot carry it around in your purse.

Texture and Fragrance ~

The toner is transparent in color and quite runny liquid almost like water. I would not say transparent it is the palest of green in color which almost appears transparent in naked eye unless looked at very carefully. This smells lovely, I love the scent it has, which feels like a luxurious one. It is the same scent which is present in all of their products from this line

Ingredients (section taken from Plum website) ~

Green tea
A great natural astringent (tightens pores), green tea is also anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and provides the skin with nourishing anti-oxidants to decrease the signs of aging.

Glycolic acid
More famously used in peels, glycolic acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxyl acid) that helps keep skin refreshed and renewed.

A non-comedogenic emollient, results in skin that is softer to touch

Everything that's inside
Aqua (Water), Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, FDA Approved Colours, Fragrance Glycerin, Glycolic acid, Phenoxyethanol

Plum Goodness Green Tea Alcohol Free Toner Review
My experience ~

I love all the fact that this has a cute packaging with information written in a funny and catchy way. I love the fact that this is alcohol free, and all harsh chemical free, paraben free and its vegan and cruelty free. I love the smell, and it is not at all drying and the skin feels a bit taut.

But, here comes the big BUT ( with a single T not a double TT, hehe ). Once I apply it all over face I get extremely warm sensation, my whole face feels really really warm. This does not give any cool and calming sensation to skin. The sensitive areas of my mouth like around my nose, around by lip area stings like hell. The first day when I applied it, it gave such a horrible burning sensation that I splashed cold water all over my face. I continued to use it in little quantity to test it further. But the same sensation still continued and it is not at all pleasant feeling. And my skin was breaking out big time. I was using the complete green tea range, their face wash, toner, moisturizer and face mask when I started testing these products. I was also testing a facial oil that time, but I am sure that cannot break me out, as it is all natural.

All of the products from this range has glycolic acid and may be all that glycolic acids were irritating my skin. The face wash dried out my skin, the toner, gave me burning sensation and the next day morning I would see a pimple popping through. I have not been using any of these products else but the face wash for the past 3 days and I have seen no new arise of pimple.

Overall, though this toner has all the good things as it claims, almost feels like God sent but I do not like the burning sensation it gives to my skin. I want my toners to give me a calming and soothing sensation since I have acne skin. If you do not have sensitive skin, you might like it. Glycolic acid is a great exfoliating agent but presence of it in all of your skin care products that you put on your face, is according to me not a good choice. Since I have been using the face wash ( only till the time Just Herbs delivers my Silksplash ), I am not using this toner anymore and using the KAMA rose water instead, and slowly my skin is getting back to normal. I am definitely not going to re-purchase this. But if you are planning to get it, I would suggest buy any one product from this range. Do not use the complete range at once, too much exfoliation might irritate skin.

Hope this review was helpful to you. See you all in my next post.

  1. Finally finally someone feels the way I do. I thought there is something wrong with my skin or I have gone mad that everyone is raving about this product and me on the other hand had a very very bad experience. The toner made the area around my lips peel so bad. Even my lips were dry as hell and would peel off like anything. My skin was wierd . It became dry after that face wash and on applying their moisturiser it made me my skin sweat and made it so don't oily. I literally had to massage my skin for a long time to let it seep in. And no mattifying effect whatsoever. Mattifying claims just because of the facewash which makes the skin dry and this mattifies it only for some minutes. Literally had to throw it away
