The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Afrique Honey and Beeswax Hand and Foot Butter
Hello Lovelies, today I am going to review a hand and foot butter by The Body Shop in the variant SPA WISDOM Afrique Honey and Beeswax. Honestly, I would have never purchased it if it were not on SALE, because of the huge price it retails at. And also I did not find this in The Body Shop Online Store. So when I spotted this in the Mall and that too 50% off. Think no more and just added to my bag.

My face is an oil tank but rest of my body is as dry as a dessert. On top of that my  hand does a lot of household chores like cooking, cleaning etc etc and becomes dry and rough even more if not taken care off. Now with the monsoon season being in full swing, my feet are having a major cry out as well with continuously getting drenched in rain water and muddy streets. Hence I just cannot leave with hand and foot cream now or ever. It is a must for my skin care.

According to the Body Shop International website ~ (not available in Indian website)

BEST IF YOU WANT TO: Pamper your hard-working hands and feet with rich hydration from an intensive moisturizing treatment with skin softening ximenia oil from Africa that will leave skin feeling soft, supple and subtly scented with our traditional Spa Wisdom™ Africa fragrance. Particularly effective on hardworking hands and feet or any very dry areas such as elbows and knees.

BEST FOR: all skin types, particularly those with very dry skin
How it works:

  • Lanolin is one of nature’s richest moisturizers and is readily absorbed, so it provides good protection for rough, dry skin.
  • Community Trade shea butter and Community Trade organic honey moisturize and soften skin.
  • Organic Community Trade beeswax moisturizes and conditions skin while acting as a barrier to help seal in moisture.
  • Ximenia, an oil extracted from the ximenia tree native to Africa, helps soften the skin.

Packaging ~

The butter comes in a transparent glass jar which is air-tight and steel lock buckle system. The buckle is quite tight. I do have to apply quite a lot of pressure and muscle to open the tub. At one point I did hurt my finger. I just wished the packaging was little more easy and came with a spatula to spoon out product.

Color & Consistency ~

The butter is a pale caramel in color and consistency is very very thick unlike any other body butters of TBS.But when you spread it in between your palms, it sort of melts and becomes light and creamy.

Ingredients ~

The presence of silicone ( Dimethicone) and Parabens ( Methyl and Propyl Paraben) was a bit put off for me.

Price : Rs 1695 for 125 ml. I got it in 50% off at Rs 847.
Availability : TBS Stores

Coming straight down to the review. As I mentioned earlier about the packaging, I just wished it was more simple and should have come with a spatula  to scoop out product. As the product has a thick consistency, you really need to dig it out, rather than swipe is out, hence not so hygienic. With this bulky packaging, this is definitely not travel friendly. I have scooped out a bit of product in my reused Fab India Aloe Vera eye gel tub and carry it to office. But on the brighter side, this air tight container can be re-used later to store some DIY scrubs or masks.

The smell and quality of the product is something which made me forget all the other things that I did not like. This smells DIVINE. The sweet smelling of honey works as a great mood uplifting for me. After a hard day's work when I sink into my bed messaging the butter in my hands and feet, it makes me feel luxurious and relaxed. The hubby got so intrigued one day and he could not stop but slather some on him as well.

The product being too thick, surprisingly gets absorbed into the skin quickly without any greasy feeling. It makes my hand and feet soft and smooth and thoroughly hydrated and nourished. The next morning I wake up to healthy hand and feet. I have incorporated this as part of my daily night care routine. During the winter this would be a GOD sent product, but can happily be used during the summer and monsoon as well.

Overall, I am absolutely in love with the product and loving how it makes my skin feel. The packaging and few nasty ingredients are a bit put off for me. If you do not care much about silicones and parabens and then you must give it a try. Try it only when it is on SALE, or if you do not mind burning a hole in your pocket with the price tag. Many natural beauty brands have introduced paraben free products. I just wished TBS should also do the same now.

XOXO,
Shampita
