Just Herbs Pomegranate-Mandarin Pore Refining Complexion Toner
I have been looking for an alcohol free toner and when I spotted one in the Just herbs website I got the variant for the oily / combination skin. I have been using Just Herbs products from quite some time now and they have turned out to be pretty well. Hence I had a high expectation from this one. Read on to see how this ended up to be.

Just Herbs Pomegranate-Mandarin Pore Refining Complexion Toner

According to their website ~

This alcohol-free formula is ideal for oily/combination skin types with visible pores. A nourishing blend of the steam distilled waters of mandarin – traditionally used in Ayurveda for a variety of skin benefits- and Pomogrnate extract – a natural astringent that helps loosen and minimize the appearance of skin pores. Orange peel and bitter orange essential oil impart ant-microbial properties to this product and help acne-prone skin guard against infections from pollutants, dust and grime.  Just Herbs’ toners are free from alcohol making them gentle to use without stripping the skin off its natural oils.

Packaging ~

The toner comes in a plastic bottle with a nozzle fit at the mouth and a golden screw cap at top. The packaging is minimalist, nothing fancy, easy to pour and travel friendly. I guessed the Just Herbs teams thought that the product should speak volumes not the packaging.

Consistency ~

When poured in my palms, the toner felt a bit heavy and when rubbed between fingers it felt slippery and oily.

Smell ~

The smell of the toner is a bit orange like, not complete orange smell, somehow it smelled like "Mehandi ka tel". If you ever have applied Mehandi in your palms then you would know what a Mehandi Oil is and how it smells.

Colors ~

The toner is a pale yellow in color. And I swear I could see specs of dirt floating inside. I tried hard to capture in camera, but my humble camera could not focus it.

Honestly, when I bought the toner I did not find any reviews over the internet and as Just Herbs products has fared well with me, I had extremely high hopes from this and almost made it in my mind that this would be a good toner.

When I poured the toner on a cotton wool and wiped it across my face, my skin felt heavy and not at all refreshing. There was no cooling sensation like you get from a toner. The liquid did not get soaked in the skin rather it sat on top of it. It almost felt like as if I am toning my skin with a make up remover. Still I waited for sometime for it to get absorbed into the skin. It somewhat got absorbed but my face looked super oily. I did not apply any night cream that night and went to bed. Next morning I woke up to an oil tank that was my face and a red bump. Yes, it broke me out.

Second, day I again applied it same way and this time I applied Vichy Night Detox before going to bed. Next morning another red bump all in the area where my face in more acne prone, my cheeks. I had managed to keep my face acne free for a quite some time now. Thanks to this toner, I have couple of them now.

The Goodies *:

  • Alcohol Free
  • Paraben Free
  • Free of Chemicals.
  • It did take off dirt from face.

The Baddies *:

  • Feels heavy and oily on skin.
  • Does not gets absorbed in the skin. After a while the skin feels sticky.
  • I could definitely spot specs of dust floating inside.
  • Not at all suitable for summer. May be during winter this could be used, when skin itself is very dry.
  • Claims to be for oily skin, but did not suit my oily skin.
  • The smell is a put off, as I do not like Mehandi and I do not like that smell of "Mehandi ka tel"
  • Breaks out skin.
  • I did not have the courage to use it further to see if it really helps to minimize enlarged pores.
  • Pricey.

*I had to write this section for you to better judge the product.

Overall, I did not like the product at all and I am not going to use this again in this summer and monsoon. I am going to store it away for another 4 months for autumn and winter to set in. I will use it then again and see if this breaks me out again. Till then, I leave it up to you to judge if you would really spend this much of money for this toner.
