Just Herbs NOSUN Jojoba-Wheatgerm Moisturising Sun Protection Gel
Before I start off with the review for this sunscreen from Just herbs, let me put forward few question towards you.
How many of us know the difference between physical and chemical sunscreen?
Do we actually know what these are?
Which kind of sunscreen is actually safe for skin?
We blindly trust sunscreens available off the counter, how many of us actually go deep into the ingredients list and actually research on it ?

If you know the answers of all these questions then you are already sorted and making the right choices for your skin.

Let me give a little overview on this if physical and chemical sunscreen is something completely new to you.

Physical sunscreen : Physical sunscreens are often called Sunblock. They are the compounds like Zinc Oxide, Titanium dioxide. The formulas which contains these compounds sits on the face and acts as a barrier to UVA and UBV rays. They deflect the rays off the skin surface. These are thick heavy like consistency and are usually difficult to work into the skin. These kinds has been around for a long time

Chemical sunscreen: Chemical sunscreens are relatively new ones, which comprises of compounds like Homosalate, Octocryelene, Oxybenzone, Avobenzone, Octisalate. These sunscreen requires around 20 minutes to gets absorbed into the skin, and then it absorbs the UVA/UVB rays of the sun into their molecules. These let these rays penetrate your skin. Many dermatologists says that in this process, the chemical sunscreen may produce more free radicals hence doing more harm to the skin in the process.

Hence physical sunscreens sounds better right. Then again, it comes down to your choice really. Many of us would like the soft moisturizing feeling of the chemical sunscreen over to the thick sticky physical sunscreen for daily use.

I got Just Herbs NOSUN because, this variant contains physical sunscreen and my friend has already told me that she is loving it as it does not makes skin feel sticky. She has a dry skin by the way.

The light gel like consistency of the product is something that an oily skinned woman like me would absolutely love. During application this gives a cooling and calming sensation to the skin and gets absorbed very quickly. After my morning cleansing, toning ritual I only use this, as it moisturizes the skin as well as protecting it from sun rays a little. The percentage of zinc oxide being only 1%, which is not at all adequate to give decent sun protection. The minimum should be 5% whereas 10-15% is considered to be ideal. Hence if you are some one who has a travelling job this sunscreen would not do you any good. If you are planning to wear this to the beach. A big NO NO from me. I travel to office covering my face and head with a scarf or dupatta ( almost like a Hijab), hence this sunscreen works fine for me. But when I have to travel a lot and cannot cover myself up, I prefer wearing my favorite chemical sunscreen. If Just Herbs ups the percentage of the zinc oxide, managing to keep the formula light weight and gel like at the same time then this would have been the best sunscreen ever.

The good things about the formula is it is extremely light weight and moisturizes my skin so well. It keeps my skin supple and hydrated even in office AC. The smell is quite strong for my nose but it subsides gradually. Most importantly, it did not break me out. I have been using this for a week now and I am quite happy with how it makes my skin feel. The only bad thing according to me is it does not give adequate protection.

Overall, get this if you do not have to travel much in the sun and almost staying indoors most of the time, which is my situation and hence this sunscreen fits the bill perfectly. This would suit both dry and oily skinned women. If you require a heavy duty sunscreen then this is not for you, but you can use it to simply as a moisturizer.

Shampita
