Sunscreen War - Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sun Block // Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen

I never skip sunscreen and Neutrogena sunscreens have always worked for me. You would always find Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sun Block in my dresser. So when I was planning to go for a beach vacation I thought let me buy a big tube. I went to store and the SA gave me Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen. It's spray on sunscreen, quick and easy to apply. Thus I was sold. I happily bought both of them. But does it really serves the purpose as a sunscreen, which one is best between the two ?

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sun Block comes in a tube packaging. This contains Homosalate, Octocryelene, Oxybenzone (benzophenone-3), butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (Avobenzone), ethylhexyl salicylate (Octisalate). Claims to protect against skin-aging UVA and burning UVB rays. It combined with the dry touch technology for an ultra light non shiny finish. This is water proof, sweat proof, non-comedogenic, oil and PABA free.

Price : Rs 499/- for 88 ml.

The Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen comes in packaging like a deo bottle and to be sprayed on just like it, 4-6 inches away from the body. The active ingredients are same as the other containing Avobenzone, Homosalate, Octisalate, Octocryelene and Oxybenzone. Claims to protect against skin-aging UVA and burning UVB rays. This ultra light formula is non-greasy and applies easily to even hard to reach areas. Its helps prevent sunburn.

Price: Rs 675/- for 141 gms

The Body Mist sunscreen, when sprayed on it feels as if a whole lot of alcohol is sprayed on. When the alcohol evaporates, the clear sunscreen stays on the skin and the area feels sticky. You have to spray on the whole arm to cover the entire arm with sunscreen, as I have found it to not spread easily. The smell is floral the classic neutrogena scent. But at first it smells way too much of alcohol which I do not like. Coming to the protection, I found it to not work at all. This caused a lot of tanning during my beach holidays and also did not help to prevent sunburn. On irritated skin, this burns, you cannot use this after a waxing session. As I have a warm skin tone, this did not work for me. Someone who is having a cool skin tone, this might work for them.

The Dry Touch sunblock, has the same active ingredients as the mist one, but somehow the formula works very well for me. This is non-oily, spreads very easily, causes no white cast after, non-sticky and did not break me out. This did protect me from sunburn and if you are roaming the whole day in the sun, you would definitely have to re-apply this frequently to protect from the tanning.

Hence :  In my good books, the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sun Block definitely wins, it does what it claims, and most importantly does not cause any unwanted breakouts. Many sunscreens does have the tendency to give white heads. I am never going to buy the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen, this just does not work.
